Lore

Something stirs. The air is thick with the weight of centuries,  stone corridors worn smooth by time, walls etched with markings no living hand has touched. There is a stillness here that feels almost sacred, almost suffocating. Every step forward feels like a trespass.

...The mountain opens up.

The Factory does not sleep. The deeper you venture, the more the ancient stone surrenders to something stranger , pipes laced with light, mechanisms turning in perfect silence, energy coursing through channels carved with inhuman precision. This is not the work of hammers and chisels. This is engineering beyond its time.

The air hums with it. A frequency that sits just beneath thought, just beneath instinct as if the Factory is not merely running, but thinking. Processing. The rock around you is no longer just rock; it is circuitry. Infrastructure. A machine so vast the mountain itself is just its shell.

This is the sound of that realization. The moment wonder tips into something colder. Something that has always been here, and has always known you were coming.

Composition process:

We wanted to create an immersive soundscape at first without incorporating musical elements, but decided to add tension and a build-up by mixing string runs and sound design with small tempo changes gradually increasing.

We used a couple of recurring sound design elements  like a Siren and steam to help keep the atmosphere feeling factory-like throughout.

It felt natural to give a more cinematic feel with massive orchestral hits to close our first segment, which carries a more organic and "traditional" feel overall.

The second part is where the mechanical elements of the factory start to become more technologically advanced. We decided to keep and grow the sound design and mechanical effects to maintain the factory "feel" within the track, while gradually incorporating more and more synth sounds. We started with a plucked ostinato pattern that develops into more melodic elements, paired with a delicate piano to preserve the more "organic" side. We then switched to a 5/4 time signature with a more ominous chord progression, intensifying the storytelling of this mysterious technology, and finished it off with layered sound design and a choir building up to the final climax.
